SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A 20-year-old Davisburg man and off-duty township probationary firefighter died Sept. 23 from injuries suffered in a Sept. 20 crash.
Jason R. Hernandez was driving a 2001 Ford F150 pickup north on Hall Road around 10 a.m. Sept. 20 and attempted to turn left onto Andersonville Road when he lost control and left the roadway. The vehicle struck a guardrail and went airborne.
Hernandez was ejected from the vehicle and it ended up on private property. He was not wearing a seat belt, according to police. A passenger in the vehicle, a 20-year-old Waterford resident, also was injured and taken to the hospital. He was restrained, according to police. Alcohol does not appear to have been a factor.
