CORNWALL, Pa. — A volunteer firefighter was killed in a crash while en route to the scene of another accident Monday night.
WHTM reported that firefighter Bruce Sensenig, 20, with the Quentin Volunteer Fire Company, was heading to the scene of a crash at 6:21 p.m., crossed the center line on a highway and lost control of his car.
Firefighter Sensenig was broadsided by a van, which hit his passenger side; he died immediately upon impact. Members of the Quentin Volunteer Fire Company were the first on scene when they discovered that the man killed was one of their own, according to the report.
The driver of the van was taken to a local hospital, according to the report. Weather likely played a role in the crash, because “it was raining extremely hard when it happened,” Cornwall Boro Police Chief Bruce Harris told WHTM.
