Tenn. volunteer firefighter dies in highway crash

Firefighter Clayton Ball had been with the department for more than 10 years

HARTFORD, Tenn. — A volunteer firefighter died in a crash on a highway Monday morning.

WATE reported that firefighter Clayton Ball, who had been with the Cosby Volunteer Fire Department for more than 10 years, died in the crash.

The Tennessee Department of Transportation says one westbound lane of the interstate was blocked and the eastbound traffic was also affected, according to the report.

Sgt. Bill Miller said wood pallet were scattered on the highway and traffic moved slowly, according to the report.
