Nearly all newly hired firefighters, career or volunteer, undergo a medical examination. This examination is to determine whether we are fit for duty. But what happens after we are on the department?
Maintain your medical examination each year. This will establish a running history about your health during your time as a firefighter. Should an occupational disease strikes you, you will have the medical proof of your health level while a firefighter. And, you’ll have a better chance of catching and correcting those illnesses early.
