Flush the hydrant

When securing a water source from a hydrant, make sure the hydrant works before connecting the hose. Do this by opening the hydrant momentarily to flow water.
It is important to fully open the hydrant to produce a full stream of water. It can be misleading when the hydrant is opened only enough for a small amount of water flow.
The time it takes to fully open the hydrant and close it is not that much longer, and is small compared with the time it will take to secure another water source because the first one wasn't checked properly.
