Firefighter rescued by helicopter from Texas flood

After reaching the trapped motorist, the firefighter decided going back through the water was too dangerous and called for a helicopter

AUSTIN, Texas — A firefighter and motorist were rescued via helicopter after being swept away by high water Saturday.

Travis County Fire Rescue crews said about a dozen firefighters responded to a call for an individual who was trapped in high water, reported KRISTV.

Although conditions quickly changed and became dangerous when the crew arrived, one firefighter made it to the vehicle.

The firefighter decided it would be safer reach high ground via helicopter instead of trying to go through the water.

No one was injured during the incident.
