HORSEHEADS, N.Y. — Authorities say the body of a baby was recovered from the debris of an upstate New York home ripped apart by an explosion.

The Chemung County Sheriff’s Office says the body was found Wednesday night, nearly 12 hours after the explosion in Horseheads, about 80 miles south of Rochester.

Authorities haven’t released the baby’s name or the names of the two adults injured in the blast.

Officials say the cause of the explosion hasn’t been determined.

The sheriff’s office says the house was engulfed in flames when emergency crews arrived shortly after the explosion was reported around 9 a.m. Wednesday.

The adults were taken to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
