LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Community members honored the memory of a firefighter who lost his battle with stomach cancer last week with a balloon release on August 12.
KTHV reported that family, friends and fellow firefighters gathered to remember 33-year-old Gavin Wright, who retired from the Little Rock Fire Department after 11 years of service.
“I’ve heard it probably ten, fifteen times in the last few days, that they just say they hope they can live up and be half the guy, the father he was, and the husband he was,” Michael Richards, one of Wright’s friends, said.
Organizers said the Wright family will need help with medical expenses, and a Gavin Wright Family Donation Fund has been set up at First Security Bank, according to the report.
You can also make donations to the Firefighters Memorial Fund or American Cancer Society.
