PHOENIX — After months of brainstorming, researching, and attending national conferences to address suicide prevention, the Phoenix Fire Department has developed a ground breaking new tool to help firefighters get the mental health support they need in a comfortable, confidential manner.

For the first time ever, the department has joined forces with the Crisis Response Network in Maricopa County to create a unique crisis phone line, exclusively for Valley members of the fire service.

The new phone line comes months after ABC15 Investigators uncovered four suicides within the span of seven months at the Phoenix Fire Department. “Every day they have to go into stressful and sometimes very dangerous situations,” said Suzanne Rabideau, CEO of the Crisis Response Network.
