NEWPORT, R.I. — Three firefighters were injured Monday night in a hotel fire in Newport, WPRI reported.
Crews from multiple communities responded to the four-story Wayfinder Hotel fire after 8 p.m. Members from Aquidneck Island, Middletown, Portsmouth, Newport Navy, Bristol, Warren, North Kingstown, Narragansett, Snug Harbor, and East Greenwich worked to the scene, while Warwick and North Kingstown provided station coverage in Newport, Whatsupnp reported.
Deputy Fire Chief Mark Riding said the three firefighters’ injuries were minor and that no guests were hurt.
“We actually had one firefighter go through a floor. He was rescued by the crews that were with him,” Riding said. “We don’t know if it was from the heat or the water weight that was causing collapses.”
