On Aug. 10, at approximately 0130 HRS, fire units were dispatched to a structure fire along the 600 block of East 9th Street in Munhall Borough in Allegheny County, Pa. First-arriving units found a 2 ½-story wood frame structure with heavy fire on the second floor and roof area. A second alarm was then requested. Soon after the first units arrived, the fire had spread to a second 2 ½-story wood frame structure. A third alarm was then dispatched. Firefighters worked for several hours to get both structures under control. The fire began in a vacant structure, then spread to an occupied structure. Fire units from Munhall, Homestead, West Homestead, Whitaker, West Mifflin and Pleasant Hills responded to the scene. Additional fire units were placed on stand-by or transferred to other stations in the area. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. In this photo, firefighters attempt a defensive attack from a truck positioned on side A of the exposed structure.
