A Rockdale County firefighter died after being ejected from a fire truck while responding to a call

ROCKDALE COUNTY, Ga. — A Rockdale County firefighter died on June 12 after being ejected from a fire truck that overturned while responding to a structure fire, according to the Georgia State Patrol.

The crash happened around 5 p.m. at the intersection of Sigman Road and Eastview Road, FOX 5 Atlanta reported. Investigators said the Rockdale County Fire Rescue truck was making a left turn when it rolled onto its passenger side.

The firefighter was ejected during the crash and died at the scene.

11Alive reported that Gov. Brian Kemp identified the firefighter but county and fire department officials had not released additional details about the firefighter who died.

The incident remains under investigation.
