DUBOIS COUNTY, Ind. — Dubois County firefighters are grieving after the Celestine Volunteer Fire Department announced that Firefighter Luke Gehlhausen died in the line of duty.
The department posted on social media that Gehlhausen was responding to a structure fire on Sept. 7 when he was involved in a fatal, single-vehicle crash.
Gehlhausen, 41, had served the department for 17 years.
“At this time, we ask that you keep Luke’s wife, children, parents, sister and extended family in your thoughts and prayers as they navigate this difficult situation,” the department said.
