2 firefighters killed, 1 hurt in truck crash

All three firefighters in the single-vehicle crash worked for Nevada’s Bureau of Land Management

WINNEMUCCA, Nev. — Two firefighters were killed and one injured when the truck they were driving crashed Sunday around 5 p.m.

Several media sources report that the Nevada Bureau of Land Management is withholding the firefighters names until family members are properly notified. All three worked for Nevada BLM.

The injured firefighter was air lifted to a medical center for treatment. That firefighter’s condition was not released.

“Our hearts are heavy, but our focus, our thoughts, our or prayers are with the families of these extraordinary brave people who served to protect the people of Nevada and the public lands of that belong to all of us,” Nevada BLM Chief of Communications Stephen Clutter said in a statement.

The firefighters were returning from an assignment when the crash occurred. The crash is under investigation.
