MONTGOMERY, N.Y. — A firefighter died Tuesday night from injuries sustained while directing traffic last month.
Mid Hudson News reported that firefighter Charlie Wallace, with the Montgomery Volunteer Fire Department, was struck by a vehicle while directing traffic in front of the firehouse Jan. 10. He was assisting an engine that was responding to a mutual aid standby call.
Since then, he was been at the hospital in critical condition.
Firefighter Wallace was a 43-year fire service veteran and was also the chairman of the board of fire commissioners.
Funeral arrangements are pending.
