EL DORADO SPRINGS, Mo. — A firefighter died Thursday after succumbing to injuries he suffered in an apparatus crash.
According to a department Facebook post, El Dorado Springs Volunteer Fire Department firefighter Russell Hayes was on his way to an annual pump test Wednesday in a pumper truck when he was involved in a crash.
Hayes, a 42-year veteran of the department, was seriously injured in the crash and died as a result on Thursday.
“Russ Hayes was an active volunteer in the community,” the Facebook post read. “He was always there willing to help. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, our department and community.”
