TAIZHOU, China — A fire that swept through a two-story building of shops and apartments in eastern China killed at least 17 people on Sunday, state media reported.
It was not immediately clear what started the blaze in Zhejiang province’s Taizhou city or how many people were injured, the official Xinhua News Agency said.
The fire broke out at 1:40 a.m. Sunday morning and had been put by firefighters, it said.
