NY firefighter injured after being struck by tow truck

Officials say he suffered a fractured hip and his injures are not life-threatening

CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. — A firefighter was injured Tuesday evening after he was hit by a vehicle while helping to clear a minor accident on a highway.

CBS6Albany reported that volunteer firefighter Allen Ayotte, 66, with the West Crescent Fire Department, was clearing the scene of an accident when the flatbed truck backed over the right side of his body. He was taken to a local hospital and has been listed in serious condition, according to CNWeekly.

Officials say firefighter Ayotte, a 40-year member of the department, suffered a fractured hip and his injures are not life-threatening, according to the report.
