The Denver Fire Department is mourning the loss of one of its own after 34-year-old Patrick John Mahan died in an all-terrain vehicle crash.

DENVER — The Denver Fire Department is mourning the loss of one of its own after 34-year-old Patrick John Mahan died in an all-terrain vehicle crash near Wiggins, Colo., Saturday.

Another fire department member was also injured in the crash and remains in the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, as reported by CBS4 in Denver.

“The Denver Fire Department sends thoughts and prayers to the family and friends of the firefighter who lost his life,” Denver Fire Department’s Greg Pixley said. “We are reeling from this loss. We are also wrapping our arms around the friends and family of the firefighter who was injured.”

Autopsy results are pending to pinpoint the cause of Mahan’s death.
