PERRY TOWNSHIP, Ind. — Chief Emeritus Bob Doerr of the Perry Township Fire Department has died, the department announced Sunday on Facebook.
The 32-year veteran’s certifications included Emergency Medical Technician, Masters Certification in Fire Management, Fire Instructor, and Strategy & Tactics. He became the department chief in 1990, according to the Facebook post, and he responded to more than 9,000 calls in his career.
Several of Doerr’s family members have served in the same department, including his son Robert Doerr, who died in 2019.
