SC firefighter killed in motorcycle crash
Daniel Roy died after he spent several days in the intensive care following a crash on his motorcycle

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — A Pawleys Island firefighter has died following a motorcycle crash on Highway 17, according to Midway Fire Rescue.
Daniel Roy, 29, who was a firefighter for Midway for two years, was in a wreck in Myrtle Beach on Sunday night. He died after being in intensive care for several days at Grand Strand Regional Trauma Center.
“It is with extreme sadness that we have to inform you that firefighter/EMT Daniel Roy has passed away,” according to a tweet from Midway Fire Rescue on Friday afternoon.

Midway Fire Chief Doug Eggiman said in a release that Roy, who was from McDonough, Ga., “will always be remembered as a Firefighters-Firefighter. Daniel’s motivation, enthusiasm, and dedication to the Midway Community and our Organization will be missed every day.
“Daniel was a driven firefighter, always working to improve himself, most recently as a Paramedic Student. Daniel will be missed by his fellow shift members, as well as the entire department.”
Eggiman asked that the department and family receive privacy as they grieve
“We ask you to continue to keep the members of the Roy family, and the members of Midway Fire Rescue in your thoughts and prayers,” Eggiman said in a release.
