Man arrested for robbing volunteer fire department

Clifton Lamar Lambert broke into the Leroy Volunteer Fire Department and stole up to $5,000 worth of equipment

MCLENNAN COUNTY, Texas — Investigators have arrested an 18-year-old man for allegedly breaking into a volunteer fire department and stealing equipment last weekend.

Clifton Lamar Lambert was charged with three counts of burglary and three counts of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, according to KXXV.

Last weekend, Lambert and at least one other reportedly forced their way into the Leroy Volunteer Fire Department and stole bunker coats, pants, boots, helmets, a trauma bag, an airway bag, and an automated external defibrillator.

The department estimates they lost up to $5,000 worth of equipment. Receiving $5,000 per year from the county, the loss of equipment was a major blow.

Luckily neighboring fire departments have donated a gently used defibrillator and are offering bunker gear.

Lambert has been released on a combined $22,000 bond.
