HOUSTON — A man accused of posing as a firefighter was arrested Tuesday night while on his way to a drug deal.
ABC 13 reported that Christopher Cassidy was speeding down a two-lane road at 80 miles per hour with a siren blaring. When he was pulled over, he told Constable Kenneth Hayden he was a firefighter. He even showed him an ID for the Bear Creek (Texas) Volunteer Fire Department, but later admitted he was in a hurry to do a drug deal.
“He wasn’t able to tell me the fire chief’s name and it just threw all kinds of red flags to me,” Hayden said.
Inside the truck, deputies discovered bottles of Xanax, Tramadol, Clonazepam, Diazepam and Lorazepam. Hayden said Cassidy admitted he was on his way to conduct a drug deal.
According to the constable’s Facebook page, Cassidy allegedly posed as a firefighter before but was never arrested. Officials with the fire department did not return the station’s call and did not know why Cassidy stopped working there about four years ago.
He’s accused of several felony drug charges as well as impersonating a public official. He posted $26,000 bond and is awaiting trial.
