BIG BEAR, Calif. — Firefighters rescued a man and a woman Thursday who were trapped inside an SUV after a rollover accident on Highway 38.
Fire crews responded to the crash at Highway 38 and State Lane about 2:20 p.m. They found the SUV on its side with severe damage and the two victims trapped inside, according to a news release issued by the Big Bear City Fire Department.
Firefighters were able to pull the man and the woman from the SUV without using the Jaws of Life to cut them out.
The female driver was airlifted to Loma Linda University Medical Center with major injuries, according to the news release. The male passenger was taken to Bear Valley Community Hospital with minor to moderate injuries.
Two off-duty firefighters helped the victims as they were trapped inside the vehicle, according to the news release.
