Firefighters rescue mother and child from England house inferno

Fire crews battled through thick smoke early yesterday to rescue amum and her baby from their blazing home. They led the 24-year-old and her child to safety down a ladder from a bedroom window of the Wrexham council house.

The family’s pet cat died in the blaze, which broke out in the living room of the house in Holborn Crescent, Brynteg.

The woman and 18-month-old child were given oxygen by firefightersto cope with slight smoke inhalation but did not need hospital treatment.

A spokeswoman for the North Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: “Amother and baby were rescued from the property by firefighters usinga ladder and they were given oxygen by the firefighters.”

The living room was damaged by the flames and the rest of the house badly damaged by smoke.

Yesterday, police and fire investigators carried out an investigation.

The fire service said they could not give the cause of the blaze and said investigations were continuing.

The mother and baby were thought to be staying with relatives in the area.
