WOODBINE, Ky. — Two individuals who were indicted last month for allegedly stealing $244,790 from the Woodbine Volunteer Fire Department were arraigned Tuesday afternoon in Whitley County Circuit Court.

Patricia Broughton, 40, of Woodbine, and Harold Barton, 67, of Woodbine, appeared before Judge Paul Winchester with their attorney, Paul Croley, who said he had read the 50-count indictment to his clients and had explained their charges. Croley then entered a “not guilty” plea on behalf of the two.

Commonwealth’s Attorney Allen Trimble also presented Croley with two folders of discovery items which had previously been requested via a motion by Croley.

Winchester instructed Broughton and Barton to return to court May 22 at 9 a.m. for a pretrial conference.
