HIGH POINT, N.C. — Some firefighters in High Point are watching their backs as they’re responding to calls for help.

Within minutes of a full call out for a kitchen fire, firefighters at station 2 in downtown High Point had called police to make sure the garage door had properly shut behind them.

About three weeks ago, firefighters returned from a call to find cell phones and iPads stolen from inside their station. “We trust people — we don’t think someone is just waiting outside for us to leave to go inside,” said Battalion Chief Michael Foster with the High Point Fire Department.
