MISSOULA, Mont. — A volunteer firefighter is dead after a tractor trailer crashed into his vehicle while he was responding to a wreck on Interstate 90 near Haugan.

The Montana Highway Patrol says the 59-year-old firefighter from Haugan was responding to a single-vehicle wreck involving minor injuries. Chief Bruce Charles of West End Volunteer Fire and Rescue in Mineral County identified the victim as Jerry Parrick.

The Highway Patrol says Parrick was in his pickup truck with his emergency lights flashing when the tractor trailer slid and jackknifed on the snow-covered road just after noon yesterday (Wednesday). Parrick’s truck was hit and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
