VolunteerFD.org is for Sale!

Dear VolunteerFD.org Members,

I have spent the past four years working had on VolunteerFD.org, to grow its membership to over 19,000, keep the information fresh and provide a resource to the Volunteer Fire Department Community. As a community we have all been very successful in growing VolunteerFD.org, and we have amassed a database of over 3000 best practices! We have published nearly 100 articles ranging from Bylaws to Training. I have answered over 60,000 emails, launched two successful conferences at sea, and put blood, sweat and tears into this project.

Unfortunately, running this site has become more than a full time job. To run the site, not only do I need to do everything above, but I also need to sell advertising, make partnerships and speak at national conferences. With my day job, personal life, and educational goals, this has become impossible to juggle.

To this end, I have decided, after much thought and planning, to sell VolunteerFD.org. I think that VolunteerFD.org is a great tool to the community and it needs to continue to grow and serve volunteers. The only way to do this is to find someone to take it on as a corporate project. While I do not currently have someone to purchase the site, I foresee three possible options: a member of VolunteerFD.org who wants to purchase the site to run as a small business, a publisher who wants to expand their offerings in the volunteer fire department market, or a large manufacturer who wants to reach volunteers and give back to the community.

VolunteerFD.org has quite a bit to offer to each of those three options. We have a fully developed web database system for running the website, real time searches of information and maintaining a knowledge base for over 19,000 members. We currently have an average of 100,000 pageviews each month and grow by 300-400 members every month! There is a great revenue potential and selling just the existing advertising space at the existing prices would be nearly $100,000/year.

It is a sad day that I have to admit that the site has outgrown my efforts, but it is a great day because it means that the site is doing its job, and has the potential to grow further! I do not know the timeline for the sale of the website, but I will keep everyone informed. If you have an interest in purchasing the website, or know someone who might be, feel free to contact me at jason@volunteerfd.org or 860.637.2389.

Yours in Service,

Jason
