FAYETTE COUNTY, Pa. — Some Fayette County firefighters had to extinguish a fire in their own fire station.

As Belle Vernon volunteer firefighters were returning from a vehicle crash about 10:50 p.m. Thursday, they noticed smoke coming from their Main Street building.

“One of the ballasts in the lights started smoking and caught on fire,” said fireman Brent Tratty.

“We were out on a wreck, and when we came back to the station, it was filled with smoke.” Tratty said no one was injured in the minor fire, and the station is fully operational.
