SANTA ROSA, Calif. — The Santa Rosa Fire Department joined the fight against the Park Fire near Chico over the weekend sharing video of what they saw as they returned from a rest period.

Posted to the Instagram page of Santa Rosa Fire Fighters IAFF L1401, the video shows flames raging on both sides of a roadway.

“E26 got pressed back into action on the#parkfire from a scheduled rest period. This was their journey back to the line,” the caption read.

The video, showing the engine traveling down a smoke-choked road, is reminiscent of one showing a Berkeley crew dispatched to the Tubbs Fire in Santa Rosa in 2017.

Santa Rosa firefighters are among the emergency personnel from across Sonoma County who have joined more than 4,800 others to assist in fighting the Park Fire, which ignited July 24 near Chico in Butte County.

As of Monday, the Park Fire has destroyed more than 100 structures and is threatening another 4,200, Cal Fire said.
