PARADISE, Texas — Calvin Thompson lost his home and everything in it in Tuesday’s massive wildfire in Wise County.
“It’s all gone,” Mr. Thompson said as he surveyed damage. “You can’t even tell what the refrigerator was.”
Fire ate away at homes and buildings on several hundred acres in this Wise County town as volunteer firefighters tried to tame the flames. Smoke filled the air while worried residents wondered where the wild winds would go next – and whether their homes would burn to the ground.
