KILLEEN, Texas — A wildfire is burning in Killeen, Texas, and authorities evacuated an elementary school and about 100 homes.
Emergency officials say the fire was mostly contained by late Tuesday. The hundreds of children and staff at Reeces Creek Elementary School were moved to an events center in the central Texas town.
The Killeen Daily Herald reports at least 200 acres have burned and 100 homes were evacuated as a precaution.
The National Weather Service says temperatures were in the mid-90s late Tuesday and wind gusts topped 20 mph.
