CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — About 15 firefighters battled a grass fire for about an hour Saturday along Beach Access Road 2 off State Highway 361 that spread through 2 acres, officials said.
The fire was sparked about 11:45 a.m. by a downed power line, said Deputy Chief Mike Richenberg, with the Flour Bluff Volunteer Fire Department. There were two structures at risk from the fire, Richenberg said. One wood shed had minimal damage, and the fire was doused before it reached the other building, he said.
An AEP Texas crew was called to repair the downed line.
