Wildfires burn in the Cleveland National Forest on Monday evening in Anaheim.

ANAHEIM, Calif. – Firefighters made progress early Tuesday battling a Santa Ana wind-fanned wildfire that had eaten an estimated 3,500 acres of wilderness near the outskirts of Orange County suburbs. But officials cautioned that high winds and low humidity could hamper efforts later in the day.

“We had very good progress overnight,” said Adam Probolsky, a public information officer with the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
