Firefighter injured in Calif. brush fire

The fire was under control in less than an hour and firefighter stayed an hour longer to clean up

FONTANA, Calif. — One firefighter was injured Tuesday while extinguishing a 2-acre vegetation fire in Fontana.

The fire broke out about 2:05 p.m. in a field near Cherry Avenue and Arrow Highway, said San Bernardino County fire Supervisor Tim Franke. Flames were under control by 2:45 p.m. and firefighters stayed an hour longer to clean up.

There were no immediate details about the firefighter’s injuries, Franke said.
