CACTUS, Texas — A Texas firefighter died Wednesday from burns he suffered while responding to a wildland fire on April 9.
Firefighter Elias Jaquez, 49, and three other firefighters were injured when their fire truck became stuck in the terrain in Moore County, Texas while they were attacking a wildland fire.
Firefighter Jaquez, a volunteer fighter for two years, received third-degree burns over 60 percent of his body. He was in critical condition after he was rushed to the hospital, where he passed away.
