LOS ANGELES — The man accused of igniting the wildfire that killed five U.S. Forest Service firefighters last October is scheduled to appear in court today. Raymond Lee Oyler, 36, is set to appear before Judge Jeffrey Prevost for a felony settlement conference regarding the more than two-dozen charges he is facing, including five counts of first-degree murder.
The Beaumont man was last in a courtroom on Dec. 15, when his hearing was continued.
At the time, Oyler’s attorney, Mark McDonald, had just received from prosecutors hundreds of pages of documents related to the case and told reporters that he could find nothing establishing a forensic link between his client and the Esperanza wildfire.
