Video: Reporters get fire retardant dumped on them

An air tanker let go its supply of fire retardant above unsuspecting reporters covering the Calif. wildfire

TEHAMA COUNTY, Calif. — Two FOX40 reporters covering the Panther fire near Chico found themselves a little too close to the action.

Ben Deci was describing efforts of a bulldozer behind him that was making the first defensive line against the fire when an air tanker dropped retardant on the area. The reporter did his best to cover up.

“We just got fire retardant dumped on us,” Deci said when everything settled. “It’s good for fighting the blaze, not great for reporting in.”
