ROSENHAYN, N.J. — Firefighter training groups across New Jersey recently came together to conduct hands-on search training using self-built props designed to simulate real conditions.
Members of the Jersey FOOLS, What Exit? FOOLS of New Jersey and the Revolutionary FOOLS of Northern New Jersey collaborated on the training, focusing on search techniques and victim location in low-visibility environments. The props, constructed by the groups, allowed firefighters to practice navigating obstacles and confined spaces similar to those encountered inside burning structures.
The session emphasized practical, scenario-based training, allowing participants to refine search tactics and teamwork in a controlled environment.
FOOLS chapters, short for Fraternal Order of Leatherheads Society, are firefighter-led organizations dedicated to preserving and advancing the traditions, skills and aggressive interior firefighting culture of the fire service.
