MILLERSVILLE, Md. — An Anne Arundel County medic unit was involved in a crash on Route 295 North in Hanover while transporting a 54-year-old man to shock trauma in Baltimore Friday morning, fire officials said.
The man had serious but not believed to be life-threatening injuries after firefighters extricated him from a truck that crashed in the woods in Hanover earlier. A second person was also transported with minor injuries to Baltimore Washington Medical Center from that crash, Anne Arundel fire officials said.
Firefighters responded around 8:19 a.m. to the area of Route 100 Eastbound between New Ridge Road and Harmans Road for a report of a car crash with a vehicle off the roadway. Upon arrival, firefighters found the man, who was the driver, trapped in a pickup truck in the woods, fire officials said. The man was extricated in less than 10 minutes.
While en route to Shock Trauma, the unit was involved in a crash on Route 295 north, north of Route 100, and another paramedic unit transported the man to shock trauma, fire officials said. The three firefighters on the medic unit were not injured.
The driver of the second vehicle in the crash with the medic unit was transported to Saint Agnes Hospital with minor injuries, fire officials said.
