Firefighters salvage American flags dumped behind firehouse

Crews cleaned up the six flags and displayed them in front of the fire station on Memorial Day

TAMPA, Fla. — Six American flags were found in the bottom of a dumpster behind a Tampa fire station on Monday morning.

It happened at Port Tampa Fire Rescue Station 19 on Interbay Boulevard. Capt. Tom Meid says what they found made them angry.

"We found these six American flags on poles stuffed at the bottom of our dumpster and covered in debris and especially today being Memorial Day, that's not right." And if it wasn't bad enough that someone threw the flags in a dumpster behind a fire station, this particular fire station borders MacDill Air Force Base in South Tampa.
