Ore. man allegedly set own apartment on fire, threatened first responders

MEDFORD, Ore. — An Oregon man allegedly set his own apartment on fire and threatened to harm first responders last week, the Mail Tribune reported.

Robert Jameson O’Neill, 46, was “armed with a handgun and had lit his apartment on fire,” according to Medford Police Sgt. Mark Cromwell.

The Medford Fire Department responded with multiple engines, and the fire was mostly limited to the one apartment though some firefighters had to work through the ceiling of the apartment below.

O’Neill surrendered and faces charges of first-degree arson, first-degree criminal mischief and a misdemeanor, second-degree disorderly conduct.
