SACRAMENTO COUNTY, Calif. — Officers arrested a man accused of not only breaking into the post office on Fair Oaks Boulevard in Carmichael, but attempting to steal a fire engine responding to the tripped alarm.
United States Postal Service representatives say the suspect broke into the facility Sunday morning by busting a back window. An alarm sounded, triggering the Sacramento Metro Fire District to respond. Witnesses report the suspect bashed a front window to escape.
Firefighters say the suspect attempted to steal Engine 109, but only succeeded in accidently sounding the siren.
