HOQUIAM, Wash. — A man is accused of stealing a flashlight from a fire truck parked in Hoquiam for a firefighter’s funeral.
Witnesses pointed out the suspect Friday, and an officer stopped him and recovered the flashlight and also found methamphetamine.
KBKW reports the suspect was jailed on an outstanding warrant from the Department of Corrections and also for investigation of vehicle prowling.
The fire truck crew was attending services for Michael Webber, who died last month in a truck accident.
“I am not sure how much lower you can get than to steal equipment off of a fire truck parked at a funeral for a fallen firefighter,” Hoquiam Police Chief Jeff Myers said.
