Cincinnati warns firefighters about alcohol, drugs following fatal crash

CINCINNATI - A new directive aimed at Cincinnati firefighters warns that if they are under the influence of alcohol or drugs, not to go to their firehouse to sleep off their buzz.

It was delivered to members of the Cincinnati Fire Department about two days after six-year firefighter Joseph Dance allegedly drove his vehicle head-on into Lisa Kreutzer, 25, killing her, while under the influence of alcohol. Dance was indicted Thursday for aggravated vehicular homicide.

Meg Olberding, a city spokeswoman, said the directive along with a reminder of city policy came as direct result of Dance’s crash. City officials said they suspect Dance may have been heading to a firehouse that evening but were unsure.
