STONEWALL, Colo. — Two firefighters with the Stonewall Volunteer Fire Protection District are facing federal charges they solicited $10,000 in cash kickbacks meant for Hurricane Katrina relief efforts.
Assistant Fire Chief Loyd Hollman, 56, and fire Lt. Andrew Rose, 55, are being held in a New Orleans jail after FBI agents arrested them Friday. Rose and Hollman were charged with soliciting bribes as federal officials, a crime that carries up to two years in prison. The pair, however, could face more serious charges, a federal prosecutor said, including conspiracy and defrauding the federal government.
Bail for Rose was set at $470,000 and Hollman is being held in lieu of $180,000 bail.
