DIX HILLS, N.Y. — A raging fire that one fire official called “definitely suspicious” gutted a home owned by Grammy-nominated rapper 50 Cent on Friday morning, sending six people inside the house to the hospital.
The home, purchased in January 2007 for a reported $2.4 million, has been at the center of a lawsuit between 50 Cent and ex-girlfriend Shaniqua Tompkins.
50 Cent last month tried to evict Tompkins and their son from the home unless she paid $4,500 a month in rent.
The victims, among them Tompkins and the pair’s son, Marquise, 11, were treated for smoke inhalation and released.
A firefighter said the blaze was suspicious because of “the rapid movement of the fire.”
50 Cent was informed of the fire while filming a movie in Louisiana.
