FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — Gas originally suspected; S. Fulton explosion now considered suspicious.

Authorities have yet to identify two people killed Saturday night in a south Fulton home explosion but that two children who lived in the house were found alive and well.

Fulton County police Detective Melissa Parker said officials still were working on the identities Monday evening. She said the two children were later found safe at another location.

Parker said the Fulton County 911 center began receiving calls about the explosion at a home on Garvey Drive about 1 p.m. Saturday.

She said firefighters recovered two bodies from the burning home, but those bodies were so badly burned, the gender and age could not immediately be determined.

Parker said the single-story house in the Milam Manor subdivision was destroyed by the blast and ensuing fire.

“You can stand in front and look through it,” Parker said.

Neighbors said a mother in her 30s and her teenage son lived in the house, according to Channel 2 Action News. They said the two had lived in the home for about month.

The two victims were said to be found in the kitchen of the home.

Natural gas originally was suspected, but now authorities consider the blast suspicious, and arson investigators were called to the scene.

A home behind the destroyed house also was damaged by the fire that followed the blast.
