DUNDEE, Fla. — A state Division of Forestry firefighter was arrested Wednesday after Polk County deputies said he stole irrigation pipes from his employer and sold them to scrap-metal dealers.

Investigators from the sheriff’s agricultural-crimes unit arrested Michael Lamar Adams II, 26, on suspicion of grand theft, dealing in stolen property and defrauding a secondhand metal dealer.

Deputies said Adams sold 15 aluminum pipes worth $1,500 to two dealers for $300.

The Sheriff’s Office said Adams admitted taking the 4-inch piping, used to fight forest fires, from his office in Dundee.
